
Dr. Curtis Newbold—founder and chief contact architect of The Comm Spot—is a self-proclaimed nerd with a love for all things communication.
Curtis is a passionate educator, speaker, and award-winning corporate consultant who has delivered hundreds of live trainings, webinars, and workshops for diverse multinational companies and government organizations. He is co-author of a university textbook on business communication, Business & Professional Communication:
A Human-Centered Approach by Sage Publications. Curtis has developed and taught over 40 different communication courses at universities in the U.S., Korea, and China on topics including strategic communication, information design, web development, technical writing, public speaking, integrated marketing communication, advertising, public relations, and many others. He has led graduate student strategic communication projects for non-profits in Peru, South Africa, Cambodia, Morocco, and Iceland.
He has a PhD in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (RCID) from Clemson University and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English and Professional Communication from Utah State University. Curtis currently serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Strategic Communication at the University of Utah.
